Block printing in Jaipur dates back over hundreds of years, introduced by the Chhipa community and nurtured under Mughal patronage. Centred in villages like Bagru and Sanganer, the craft uses hand-carved or even machine-carved wooden blocks and natural dyes to create intricate patterns on cotton, by hand or machine. Block printing celebrates slow, artisanal work, and today machine assistance also allows wider patterns and designs.
